What is the meaning of life? Visual Novel Added

It is the year 2047. You are Andrew Bishop, the World Chess Champion. You are engaged in a bitter struggle with a Humanoid for the world chess championship.

This is a Visual Novel based upon a story from my book Assembling Chess II. I am experimenting with using different mediums and formats…

(Use a browser for optimal viewing. It does work on cell phones and other electronic devices, but not as well as through a browser).

The Detective’s Apprentice Game Added

It is 1931. You are Police Officer Quinn Taylor. You graduated first in your class at the academy. Because of this, you have been selected to be trained by Detective Asa Morgan to become a crack detective. How will you measure up?

(Should work well on cell phones, other electronic devices, and through your browser).

The Verus Effect Game Added

You are a legendary warrior, seemingly cursed to fight for all eternity.
While longing for rest, you must continue to fight to achieve your ultimate
goal of mortality…

(Should work well on cell phones, other electronic devices, and through your browser).

Twinefoolery Game Added

In the far away Land of IF, there is a curious place called Genre. The town is laid out in a hook shape, at the base of Macro Mountain. Railroad tracks run through the middle of the town. On one side of the tracks live the Twiners; on the other, the Parsers. The Twiners barely tolerate the Parsers, and vice versa.

A satirical tribute to Twine authors and IF purists everywhere.

(Should work well on cell phones, other electronic devices, and through your browser).

The Trope Exploit Game Added

Go for a walk in the forest. Invent a time machine. Steal alien technology as a secret agent. Be an enforcer for a criminal organization. Hunt monsters professionally. Rebuild your emotionally wrecked life. In this eclectic Gamebook/CYOA, you can do all of these things, and more. Written in Twine and Chapbook – you can play it in your browser.

Mature themes, tropes, and lame humor.

(Should work well on cell phones, other electronic devices, and through your browser).

THE AMAZING CHOICE ADVENTURE! ADDED

This interactive fiction gamebook was originally published to the IF Archive in 2012 as a PDF document (Choose Your Own Adventure, or CYOA gamebook). It was written by an Eighth Grader (mollycule), and I thought the game mechanic was intriguing. So, I ported the game to TWINE format (using Twine 2.37 and Chapbook 1.0) to enhance playability. This port is now located at the IF Archive and IFDB site, of course, but I also added it here at DISTANCE CHESS. There are 129 endings in this gamebook – wow! You can play it in your browser.

Warning: This gamebook has some mature fantasy-type themes and violence.

(Should work well on cell phones, other electronic devices, and through your browser).
